Nicole Kidman Just Discovered a New Ponytail Configuration—See the Photos

Nicole Kidman is an Emmy and Oscar Award-winning actor, a producer, a singer, and now, a ponytail explorer! The star, who has never been afraid to dabble in a new hairstyle—like a faux pixie at the Met Gala, for example—just debuted a new ponytail configuration and we're having so much fun examining every detail and figuring out the mechanics behind the shape and style.
Kidman attended the premiere of her upcoming TV series Margot's Got Money Troubles, based on the popular book by Rufi Thorpe, in a hairstyle that is best described as a ponytail-plus. Hairstylist Adir Abergel, who frequently works with Kidman, pulled the actor's long, strawberry-blonde hair up and twisted the top portion into a medium-sized knot right at the crown of her head, pinning it in place. From the front, you'd assume Kidman was wearing her hair in a French twist, but no! Abergel left the lengths loose, descending from the base of the twist like the tail of a ponytail, and styled them in soft waves that spilled down just past Kidman's shoulders. Is it a twist? Is it a ponytail? Is it a half-updo? Yes, yes, and yes! All of the above.

The twisted ponytail was paired with a new set of long, feathery bangs, which Kidman wore brushed across her forehead and gently winged out near her temples for more texture and movement.
Ponytails may seem simple, but they bring so much to an overall look, like Anya Taylor-Joy's swishy, swingy, princessy ponytail during Paris Fashion Week, a bubble pony like the one Oprah wore a few weeks ago, or a tight, sculpted power ponytail as worn by Anne Hathaway. They can be sleek and all business, soft and romantically undone, bouncy and perky… you name it! And as Kidman proves, there's really no limit to what a great ponytail can do and be.
